Templeton the Rat

A fat, greedy grey rat with sharp teeth. He gets even fatter at the fair from eating all the rubbish.

He collects words from magazines for Charlotte’s web, but only because the animals promise him food. At the end he saves Charlotte’s egg sac by carrying it in his mouth — but again, only for a reward.

He mostly stays selfish the whole way through, but he does help when it matters. I think deep down he cares a tiny bit but would never admit it.
